Mig weld aluminum

Welding aluminum alloys can be quite different than welding steel, even for the more experienced welder.  With the welding of aluminum you will have a higher thermal conductivity and a lower melting point.  In this situation, you are prone to burn through unless the welder is following the correct welding procedures for welding aluminum.  One of the most important tasks to undertake prior to welding aluminum is to make sure the surface of the base material is clean, thus removing all aluminum oxide and other contamination that is present.  Any residue from different oils or cutting solvents need to be wiped clean.
